Hello Tumblr Friends,
Some of whom I have met in person, I totally have not been on here for a while due to my hectic schedule. A couple of things I have to talk about.
There has been a lot of stuff out lately on how SF is not the best for Startups and places like Denver and Seattle are becoming hot for tech. I agree completely, these places are hot for tech, my best friend is in Denver working for a tech company and several of my friends work in Seattle. However, I am tired of people making it seem like a competition. Seattle has several great companies that were founded in Seattle such as Amazon and Starbucks, Denver I hear has a lot of perks in terms of talent and cost of living. However, that said, I do think that San Fransisco’s economy is built largely on start ups and as such it is and will likely be the very creme de la creme for those start ups who can afford to do business here.
I’ve met students of the Draper entrepreneurship institute at the shopping mall, a founder of a healthcare app at a house party and I myself chose to move home because 5 years of working in the Silicon Valley in a Business role is highly valued around the country, and perhaps even the globe.
So to those in other places don’t compete with SF, Seattle ought to brag about Boeing, and Amazon and Starbucks and Microsoft, not to mention the stunning city, the shipping industry, and the environmentally conscious lifestyle. Colorado has gorgeous geography, and extremely fit people, as well as top tech companies such as Visa in its arsenal of reasons to live there.
I live near and love San Fransisco. For me, its a place with family, friends, support, and endless job opportunities, diversity, and amazing food. Similarly Seattle will be the city I visited in college, a place with an awesome hipster fashion scene and the best coffee. I’ve never been to places such as Colorado or Texas, but I bet they have other awesome perks. So please lets stop competing and start finding what makes every place awesome. k thx bye
